Eat great food, and that doesn’t mean McDonald’s every night. Great food is that which makes your body feel great: healthy, nutritious home-cooked foods. In order to keep your body healthy and fit, you have to spend at least 30 minutes engaged in some sort of physical activity every day. Depending on how old you are and how fit you currently are, you must find the right exercise for you. In addition, weight training will add immensely to your overall fitness level when you spend 20 minutes at least two, or preferably three days per week. This will make your muscles stronger, your metabolism will get a boost, and thereby your health will improve.
Water has zero calories and it helps maintain the fluid levels in your body. It also helps you to maintain your health in a number ways. Drinking a minimum of eight to ten glasses of water per day will be beneficial. You can always substitute water for soft drinks and processed drinks that have plenty of sugar and weight-increasing calories.
In fact, avoid consuming any intoxicants and stimulants, which apparently promise to calm your nerves, but actually destroy your health. Although, succumbing to the temptation of drinking a little bit on occasions may not be harmful, alcohol has the potential to be habit-forming and as such, you should guard yourself against it.
Quit the habit of smoking, if you have it. Smoking affects your lungs and consequently, your overall health. Nicotine is one of the many deadly killers, which you can profitably avoid.
Floss your teeth regularly
Although the actual connection between flossing your teeth and health and longevity is a subject of investigation, it is a known fact that you can maintain good health, if you floss your teeth on a regular basis.
Find purpose in life
Have a social purpose in life and work towards it. Keep learning new things and make your life worthy of living. Join a social group and do what you can to reach out and help others. Focus on bringing happiness to others and you will see that your health level rises.
